4th at the end of a difficult Safari Rally Kenya, Adrien fourmaux had thus signed his best career result in WRC, bringing with his teammate Gus Greensmith the best overall result of M-Sport Ford in 2021.

But for not having respected the race route in SS14 – Loldia this morning, the Frenchman received a ten-second penalty after the finish, causing him to fall, by a tenth, behind his British teammate.

The latter took advantage at the same time to achieve his best result in the WRC in place of the unfortunate Fourmaux. The commissioners' decision indicates that Renaud Jamoul, co-driver of Fourmaux “said he had received feedback regarding measures to limit course deviations and shortcuts, so he was under the impression that smart shortcuts would be allowed.

The co-pilot confirmed that the crew had deviated from the course, not intending to cheat but to work within the limits and understanding of the course. The co-driver confirmed that the crew did not repeat the same gap in SS 17 – Loldia 2.”

“Competitors should consider that the Safari Rally Kenya, like another WRC event, is run in the modern format on set routes and therefore deviations from the route are not permitted. » the commissioners also specify.
