Hyundai arrives in Portugal to show its “championship intentions”

Under Toyota avec une victoire contre deux pour le constructeur japonais en ce début de saison, Hyundai entend renverser la tendance au Portugal pour la première épreuve sur terre de l’année.

« The first gravel meeting of the season gives us the opportunity to show our overall competitiveness, says Andrea Adamo, Hyundai team principal. We not only want to be in contention for victory but also clearly demonstrate our intentions in the championship ».

Relegated to 27 points behind Toyota since Croatia, Hyundai expects to restart the machine on Portuguese soil to catch up as closely as possible with the Japanese team in the standings. “ Our Croatian weekend was far from perfect. We spent time analyzing our problems and our plans to deliver better performance in Portugal, continues the main Italian team.

It’s a rally where we have already tasted success (victory of Thierry Neuville in 2018, Editor’s note.) but that doesn't count for all that. We must perform. I have confidence in the team and crews to achieve this ».
