Under the name FIA Rally Champions World Tour, the international federation, in association with Hyundai Motorsport, wishes to promote the regional levels of rally in five major groups: the African Championship, the Asia-Pacific Championship, the CODASUR Championship, the Middle East Championship and the NACAM Rally Championship.

The winners of these different 2021 series will be able to receive as a reward a round in the World Rally Championship in 2022, at the wheel of the future Hyundai i20 Rally2, whose development is in its final phase.

The FIA further announces that this program will run over three years: the victorious crews of 2022 and 2023 are also eligible for the prize and will participate in an event WRC during the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

“I am very happy and proud to announce this initiative, developed in partnership with Hyundai Motorsport, which will help to boost the FIA regional rally championships and make them more attractive to competitors from all continents, indicates FIA rally boss Yves Matton.

Furthermore, by creating a route to the top of the Rally Pyramid for competitors from non-European nationalities, it will bring greater diversity to the World Rally Championship and generate positive media coverage, notably thanks to the participation of regional stars in the flagship events of their continent.

Plus, the chance for them to reach the world level the following year in an i20 Rally2. »

A new initiative to be credited to the FIA, after Rally Star aimed at detecting young talents both online via WRC simulation and with real cars.
