Hyundai identified the problem with Sordo

Dani Sordo had to give way to Kevin Abbring for the Rally of Finland played from July 28 to 31. The Spaniard broke a vertebra after an impact against a rock during a test session following the breakage of a suspension following a jump.

After an interruption, Hyndai Motorsport was able to complete its testing program last week without encountering any further problems.

“We have been in the middle of a test session since Friday to finalize our preparation. We have already identified the cause of Dani's accident and have done everything necessary to ensure this problem does not happen again, explained Michel Nandan, the Team Principal of Hyundai Motorsport. Our tests allowed us to check the performance of our Hyundai i20 WRC and to give our three pilots, Thierry (Neuville), Hayden (Paddon) and Kevin, a chance to prepare as well as possible. »

Dani Sordo is expected to return to action at the Rally Germany from August 18-31, with Hyundai Motorsport having even entered him into the first team to secure points in the Manufacturers' Championship.

“First of all, I would like to wish Dani a speedy recovery and thank Hyundai Motorsport for giving me another chance, comments Kevin Abbring. Our debut with the new Hyundai i20 WRC will be on the trickiest rally in existence. We are really looking forward to it, even though we know it will be complicated. Rally Finland is so special. The roads are very fast and the atmosphere is passionate. The aim is to continue to gain as much experience as possible and get used to the new Hyundai i20 WRC. »

The Rally of Finland will be followed live on AUTOhebdo.fr with our live text.
