Already focused on highlighting young drivers via its Driver development Program, the brand Hyundai wants to strengthen its commitment in rally and more particularly in WRC by launching a selection to detect future talent in the discipline.
Sixteen candidates have been pre-selected and up to eight of them will undergo a series of tests this month at Alzenau in Germany, Hyundai Motorsport's base camp.
Technical understanding, communication with mechanics and engineers, mastery of English or even public relations will be judged in particular by a jury composed of Team Principal Michel Nandan, Team Manager Alain Penasse and customer competition manager Andrea Adamo.
In September, the drivers and their co-drivers will finally get behind the wheel, with tests on asphalt and dirt, before the name of the winner is revealed, who will have the opportunity to compete several rounds of WRC-2 in 2018 with the Hyundai i20 R5.
« We have developed our rally programs over the last few years with success in the WRC and with the customer competition part, describes Michel Nandan. The Hyundai Motorsport development program is another example of our commitment to rallying. We are delighted to begin our search for a future WRC star. There is so much untapped talent. We want to help the stars of tomorrow. »
