Hyundai on the offensive in Spain

Without necessarily talking about carte blanche, the trio of the Korean manufacturer Hyundai compound Thierry Neuville, Dani Sordo and Hayden Paddon, was entrusted with the mission to attack this weekend on the Catalan roads of Rally of Spain, penultimate round of the World Rally Championship.

“The Rally of Spain will be a great challenge not only for the drivers but also for the whole team because there are a bit of two rallies in one with stages both on gravel and asphalt, explains Michel Nandan, the Team Principal of the training based in Alzenau in Germany. As for the last “asphalt” rally of the season, we are going to ask our drivers to push harder to see the level we have reached since France and the last tests. Of course we don't expect to be at the very top of the pecking order because it's still a development season for us, but it would be good to see Dani, Thierry and Hayden up front without compromising our main objective, which is – as always – to learn as much as possible for the future by bringing all our cars to the finish. »

Local hero Dani Sordo has high expectations from his home event. “The first day is on dirt and I prefer that because my championship position means I'll have a good starting position and hopefully a clean road, which could help with the overall result. »

At the same time, Hyundai continues development of the 2015 version of the Hyundai, Bryan Bouffier having recently driven the future i20 in Germany. The Rally of Spain will be followed live and in full on our website.
