IRC: Dani Sordo in Mini at the Tour de Corse

The fourth round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, in Corsica on May 11 and 12, will welcome a world-class driver in the person of Dani Sordo. On this occasion, the Spaniard will take the wheel of a Mini John Cooper Works Super Production Car (SPC) for the first time. This SPC is a mount almost identical to the one he pilots in WRC except several technical details. This version has a smaller air intake flange than a WRC (30mm compared to 33mm in WRC), a smaller rear wing, smaller front brakes as well as a different bumper and side windows.

The Tour de Corse is not unfamiliar territory for the Spaniard. The latter has already taken part several times and notably has two third places to his name in 2006 and 2007. The asphalt and winding roads of the island of beauty are unlike any other and Sordo has three excellent results on this surface. (a podium at Monte-Carlo, in France and Germany). Nobody has any doubts about the fact that Sébastien?s former teammate Loeb does not come to Corsica to make up the numbers. “The Tour of Corsica is a legendary event and it’s a real shame that it is no longer on the WRC calendar., explains the driver of the Mini. I really like it, because it's a rally very technical and we must always be precise in our trajectories. Although the engine and aerodynamics are different on the WRC version, the Mini SPC has the same chassis so it should not pose a big adaptation problem. »
