Jean Todt puts forward several ideas for future calendars

Japan, Chile, Kenya with the possible return of the Safari Rally... Destinations wishing to host a round of the World Rally Championship in the years to come have multiplied in recent times, thus offering WRC a new opening in addition to the usual rounds registered for several seasons.

Jean Todt, president of the FIA, and former co-driver of many of the big names in the discipline, wants events that are diversified and cover most of the globe.

“I wish there were rallies contested in all conditions, the French manager told us. Furthermore, I repeat that I want there to be events in countries where the WRC is not yet present. There is a super-license system for piloting in F1 or in WRC. Why not imagine the same thing for the tests?

We would then keep the pinnacle of the sleeves. We have the option of taking all the rounds in Europe, but that would be complicated […] We could also set up a system of alternation between similar events, which would be organized every two years. »

Remember that Japan seems to be off to a good start to join the WRC calendar from 2019, while the Safari could return to the World Cup in 2020, a preparatory event, under the supervision of the FIA, being on track.
