Julien Moncet: “We are now aiming for occasional victories”

Julien Moncet, what did you feel after the last special?

All victories are pleasant, but this one is special. We were coming out of a rally from Estonia very dull and we didn't necessarily have big ambitions here. I myself thought that a podium would be difficult to obtain. This success will bring comfort to everyone’s hearts. This shows that the car can win, even if it can be improved and that we have progressed in terms of reliability after two races without problems.

How can we explain this progression after a transparent performance in Estonia?

We took a cold shower in Tartu, which forced us to lower our ambitions in this area where we had never done well. The car hasn't fundamentally evolved, but I think the work done at our base in Finland has helped us. We brought new engine maps which worked well in the fast sections. I also believe that Ott found part of the instructions and that made the difference.

What percentage can Ott claim from this victory?

For the brand, I would have to say it's 50/50, but I think he did at least 80% of the work. (Laughs)

We are now aiming for one-off victories. We are focusing on next year's championship. This should give motivation to everyone and it will perhaps also help to put in place the structure at the management level. However, we should not get too carried away because if Ott did well, it was more complicated for Thierry (Neuville, 5^e). Maybe in Ypres it will be the opposite?
