Kalle Rovanperä: “I don’t find the stages very fun”

Obviously longing for a vacation, Kalle Rovanperä is approaching the Japan rally with great circumspection. The world champion doesn't seem to be a big fan of what awaits him.

Kalle Rovanperä: “I don’t find the stages very fun”

How did the preparation for your test go?

We've been very busy, there's a lot of turns here. I think it's unlike anything we've done before. It's both more tortuous and tighter than anything I've experienced to date. Ultimately, I find that it is similar to the Salou super special, but much longer.

Are ES interesting?

Not really. At least for me, it's not very fun.

Do you already have an idea of what settings to choose for your Yaris?

It is clear that from the shakedown we started to adapt the car. It's one thing to know what I want, it's another to achieve it.

In such conditions, how will you use the hybrid unit's boost?

On very slow sections, I'm not sure we can exploit it. I don't know if this will help in any way. Normally, between two very tight turns, it is not easy to use, there are not enough straight sections.

With almost 133 km timed on Friday, this first day promises to be crucial?

It will be even more so if you do not have the ideal set up and if you are not satisfied with the behavior of the car. If we are not in the right rhythm, it will be a very long stage.

What will be your objective for this last event?

Même si les championnats sont joués, il est clair que nous sommes au départ avec l’ambition de faire briller Toyota.
