Kalle Rovanperä joins Skoda Motorsport in WRC2

Skoda is making its revolution for the 2018 WRC2 season. Even if the Motorsport branch continues its commitment to the World Rally Championship with the Fabia R5, two new long-toothed drivers are joining the official structure.

Titled this season with five class victories, Pontus Tidemand and Jonas Andersson extend the adventure with the green and white Fabia. The Swedes will be accompanied by the experienced duo Jan Kopecky and Pavel Dresler (champions ERC in 2013, 4th in WRC2 in 2017). But under the other tents of the Czech manufacturer, the young people are taking power!

The first of them has a surname known in the world of rallies. Kalle Rovanpera, son of Harri Rovanperä (former official Seat driver and Peugeot in the early 2000s in WRC) will make his first full campaign in WRC2 at just 17 years old. The Finn distinguished himself by two participations in Wales Rally GB and in the Rally of Australia in a Ford Fiesta R5 (12th in Australia), accompanied by a national title in Latvia. History repeats itself for the Rovanperä family, as Harri participated in the 2006 season in a private Fabia WRC.

The Norwegian Be Christian Veiby (21 years old) passed through the Asia-Pacific rally championship this season, will join the world championship. Finally, Skoda's latest recruit is also a Nordic, in the person of Juuso Nordgren (21 years old). This Finn was behind the wheel of the official Skoda team during the Rally of Catalonia and Great Britain (4th and 5th in WRC2). With such an armada, the objective will be to preserve the world titles in 2018.
