Katsuta on most WRC events in 2020

Takamoto Katsuta will have a denser program for next year. After discovering the Toyota Yaris WRC au Rally of Germany (10th) and Rally of Catalonia (39th) and in the Finnish Championship, the Japanese will be entered by the Japanese manufacturer for 8 rounds of the 2020 season calendar. The rookie will participate in the 7 European rounds and his national event.

“I have to say a big thank you to Toyota Gazoo Racing and Tommi Mäkinen Racing for this incredible opportunity, comments Takamoto Katsuta. 2020 will be a new challenge for me. I have gained good experience in the events contested this year, but it is a big step to climb to perform at the best level in a WRC. »

“While my first engagements in the Yaris WRC have been positive, I know that I still need to improve my driving and my notes to improve my level. I’m very motivated and can’t wait to see how much I can improve next year.”, added the Japanese.

Takamoto Katsuta gained experience this year competing in WRC2 in a Ford Fiesta R5 with victory at Rally Chile, learning the events he will return to behind the wheel of the Yaris WRC.

“Takamoto has already gained experience in the Yaris WRC this year and he has just taken part in our final day of testing in preparation for the Rallye Monte-Carlo. He understands the car more. We have already seen good times from him at the Rally de Catalunya, especially during the second pass. He now needs more experience, which will help him improve his consistency. I am sure he will do good things in 2020,” added Tommi Mäkinen.

Toyota will align new training with recruitment of Sébastien Ogier, Elfyn Evans and Kalle Rovanperä. Takamoto Katsuta will be present at Monte-Carlo, Sweden, Portugal, Sardinia, Finland, Germany, Wales Rally GB and Japan.
