Kevin Abbring lined up in Portugal and Italy

C’est un quatuor qu’engagera Hyundai Motorsport à l’occasion du Rally from Portugal (May 20-22). Alongside the usual holders Thierry Neuville, Dani Sordo and Hayden Paddon, the Korean brand will line up a fourth i20 WRC for the Dutch Kevin Abring.

Test driver for the team based in Alzenau in Germany, and focused this year on the development of the R5 iteration of the i20, Abbring will race on an i20 WRC version 2015 (just like Paddon in Monte-Carlo) on the roads Lusitanians before returning to the seat during the summer (June 10-12) in Sardinia for the Rally Italy.

A third round, which remains to be determined, is also planned for Abbring and his co-driver Seb Marshall during the championship.

“Obviously when you're not in the car very often you have to prepare everything twice as well, Abbring explains. We gained some WRC experience last year, so my aim for Rally Portugal will be to get into the rhythm as soon as possible and enter the top 10."

The next round of the World Rally Championship will take place from April 21 to 24 in Argentina. Hyundai will field three cars there, the Neuville – Sordo duo within the first team while Hayden Paddon will drive the Mobis Team WRT i20.
