Kimi Räikkönen: “I’m making progress”

The passage of the Formula 1 au Rally is not without difficulty for Kimi Räikkönen. But during the last round of the World Rally Championship, which took place in Turkey, the Finn produced a most honorable performance, finishing the event in a very good fifth place, a very encouraging result.

“This is a sign that we are going in the right direction, explains the Formula 1 world champion on wrc. Com. In Jordan, the pace was not enough but we finished the rally. In Turkey, it was better and we took fifth place. In fact, we didn?t do anything different. It?s just a matter of miles and working on the grades. In some places I felt confident. Such a result helps. »

In an exclusive interview given to AUTOhebdo, “Iceman” is satisfied with this result, but is aware of the fact that he is still missing a lot to be able to get closer to the specialists in the discipline.

“I know the depth of the gap that separates me from the first, admits the Citroën Junior Team driver. I know that I sometimes achieve intermediate times comparable to theirs. I still have to multiply these moments. I'm progressing, but fifth to six minutes is not what I want. »

The next round of the WRC will take place in New Zealand on the weekend of May 9. A rally that is not part of the former driver's program Ferrari. Next meeting for him: the Portugal rally, at the end of May.
