Kris Meeke keeps 2017 in mind

An essential part of Citroën Racing's return to the World Rally Championship in 2017, Chris Meeke continues testing sessions with the future C3 WRC. After Earth, it was on asphalt that the Briton was able to test the car to the rafters recently before returning to the championship roads this weekend in Finland.

This terrain has regularly smiled on the former Mini driver, notably with a third place in 2014, after having played the leading roles for a long time. Enough to approach the 2016 edition with confidence, but logically with measured ambitions.

" I will do my best. In the last two years we have had good speed here, but never really a threat, because taking time on guys like Jari-Matti (Latvala) is difficult here, explains Meeke at a press conference.

It's always exciting to get to this time of year at Rally from Finland. I'm running a limited program this year and it's nice that Finland is included because if there's one rally that keeps you fit, it's this one. »

Maintaining the rhythm of the competition and gaining experience is one of Meeke's primary objectives this season, before aiming higher in 2017, when the WRC will begin a new era with revised technical regulations.

« We need to keep the bigger picture in mind, proclaims the Briton. Next year, Citroën will refocus its efforts on the WRC with a new car. I know my limits this weekend, I know the limits of the car in certain places. We need to keep this in mind and there is no need to take risks to do something special this weekend. I have just gained experience to arrive next year as complete as possible and ready for the challenge. »
