Kris Meeke gets the best start in Corsica

Victor in Mexico on earth, Chris Meeke quickly found its rhythm for the return to asphalt of the WRC in Corsica. At the wheel of a very efficient Citroën C3 WRC, the Briton achieved the first two scratch times this morning on the Isle of Beauty and is in the lead before the second loop this Friday.

Meeke leads the Ford Fiesta WRC by 8″9 Sébastien Ogier. The Frenchman is closest to the pace of the leading Citroën since Thierry Neuville complète certes provisoirement le podium avec sa Hyundai i20, mais le pilote belge a concédé 17″2 ce matin.

Tied after SS1, Ott Tänak (Ford) et Dani Sordo (Hyundai) sont en lutte pour la quatrième place, avec un avantage de 5″2 pour l’Estonien de M-Sport. Craig Breen (Citroën) suit au classement en sixième position devant la Toyota Yaris de Jari-Matti Latvala, qui avouait en début de rally not having much confidence with your mount on the traces of humidity present in the SS1.

Hayden Paddon (Hyundai) and Stéphane Lefebvre (Citroën) complete the WRC peloton, since Juho Hänninen (Toyota) and Elfyn Evans (Ford) have already lost big this Friday. The Finn was the victim of contact with a bridge and the start of a fire in SS1 and returned to the service park. We should find the second Yaris tomorrow in the race. Elfyn Evans, for his part, lost more than 2′ in SS2 after a visibly hydraulic problem.

In WRC-2, Andreas Mikkelsen (Skoda) sets the pace, beating Eric Camilli’s Ford Fiesta R5 by 5″8 after two stages.. Stéphane Sarrazin confirms that he has not lost his touch by placing third in WRC-2, 9″8 behind Camilli (while not appearing for points in the category).

Teemu Suninen (Ford), Bryan Bouffier (Ford) and Yohan Rossel (Citroën DS3 R5) follow in the standings. Victim of a broken steering rack on his Skoda Fabia R5, Jan Kopecky joined the Bastia assistance to repair it and should leave tomorrow.

The second loop of the day, a repeat of the two morning stages, will begin at 14:11 p.m. and will again be followed with live commentary on our site.
