The experience paid off for Camilli

This time, the season of Eric Camilli seems to be well and truly underway. After convincing performances in Portugal, the Frenchman M-Sport confirmed on Sardinian soil by climbing into sixth position at the wheel of the Ford Fiesta RS WRC.

On terrain that he was partly familiar with, Camilli was able to put his experience to use and set top-notch times, as a first time scratch in WRC in the Monti di Ala special.

“It was a fantastic weekend for us, underlines the former resident of the WRC-2 in 2015. Fantastic may not quite represent our joy. I am in rally for three years, with races mainly contested on asphalt, and now we are signing scratches on gravel. It's really unbelievable. »

This progress is due to experience, it's as simple as that. Experience is the key to success. The more experience you have, the better you understand your tires, the car set-up, the steering wheel, the roadbooks, everything…”

The Frenchman wants to continue his good streak on the very fast roads of Poland, where the objectives of the Camilli – Veillas duo will be more measured. “Now it is important for us to continue to progress in the same way. In Poland I think we will be a little slower because it will be our first time there, but after that, we have a few rallies that I know and even a rally that will be completely new for everyone (in China, Editor's note) so we will see what will happen there -down. »
