FIA unveils WRC 2010

Length of rally
In order to allow each rally to take place over two, three or four days, the total distance of the timed special stages must be between 300 and 500 kilometers without the route between two services exceeding 80 kilometers of specials.

SuperRally
The SupeRally will be replaced by a ranking at the end of each day. A podium will be organized every afternoon (16:00 p.m. in Western Europe) to reward the top three of the day. Only crews having participated in all special stages will appear in the final ranking.

World Manufacturers' Championship
The World Manufacturers' Championship will be more open. Manufacturers officially present will have to enter two cars approved in 2009 in the thirteen events on the calendar. The "manufacturers' teams" will also be able to enter with one or two cars approved before 2009 in a minimum of seven events, including one outside Europe.

World ranking
To follow the example of golf and tennis, a world ranking of rally drivers will be launched in 2010.

Cars approved by the ASN
Cars approved by the National Sports Associations and permitted by the regulations of the WRC may be entered to appear in a national ranking. Entries will close four weeks before the start of each event.

To be continued?
Other ideas are still under discussion. The shakedown could be used to establish the starting order for the first day. The gasoline supplier could become unique and several choices of types of gum could be offered. Finally, to stick to reality, the World Manufacturers' Championship could be renamed the World Teams' Championship.
