The Fiat 124 Abarth Rally presented in Geneva

Fans rally having the glorious era of the 70s undoubtedly remember the Fiat 124 Abarth. The Abarth Racing Team unveiled yesterday at the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland, an Abarth 124 prototype called SE139 (SE meaning “Sport Esperimental”), a descendant of the former glory of the rallying world. The brand returns to rallying after having developed the Punto S2000 and the 500 Abarth R3.

Propulsée par un bloc 1,8 litre de près de 300 ch, l’Italienne répond à la réglementation FIA R-GT, qui avait débuté l’an passé via la Coupe FIA R-GT remportée par François Delecour au volant de sa Porsche 911.

The transalpine manufacturer focused on the lightness and balance of the whole. The engine was placed behind the front axle so that the weight distribution was shifted more towards the rear. The center of gravity has also been lowered. Grip will be optimized even in precarious conditions. Michelin has been appointed as technical partner for the development of the tires.
