The Fiesta S2000 presented

The highly anticipated Ford Fiesta S2000 was unveiled on Wednesday in Cumbria, the base of the M-Sport company which prepares Ford models for rallying. The car was presented by Malcolm Wilson, the director of M-Sport, and Gerard Quinn, the competition director of Ford of Europe.

The Fiesta S2000 presented

While numerous unofficial photos and videos have been circulating on the web for some time, the official presentation of the new Ford Fiesta S2000 took place on Wednesday in Cumbria. After nine months of work, the model was particularly awaited by the world of rally.

« It?s a very exciting day for us », a déclaré Malcolm Wilson, le directeur de M-Sport. " I truly believe we have developed a fantastic rally car. This is the first time in five years that we have released a Ford rally car that can challenge for the title in National Championships around the world. »

The Fiesta S2000 will be approved in January 2010 and will be able to compete in the National Championships but also the IRC and the new WRC Cup S2000. However, it will make its debut this weekend at the Scottish Rally as part of the final round of the IRC Championship. So far, the Fiesta S2000 has already covered 3000 km of testing across the United Kingdom and Europe.

« We had a promising start in testing and I am more than satisfied with the performance of the car; it will be interesting to see the pace of the car in competition », concluded Christian Loriaux, the technical director of M-Sport.
