La Hyundai i20 WRC 2017 was officially presented at the Paris Motor Show which opened its doors to the media this Thursday, September 29. The lines of the Korean car had already been known for several months, with the first tests dating back to April having been carried out at different locations in Europe in different conditions.
The WRC is built on the basis of the 3-door model and logically corresponds to the future regulations put in place from 2017. The cars of rally will be more efficient with power increased to 380hp and reinforced downforce.
“The 2017 WRC regulations have allowed all teams to start from a clean slate, which provides an exciting challenge for our engineers, commented Michel Nandan, Team Principal of Hyundai Motorsport. These changes will increase the interest of the stages with wider and more powerful cars. »
“The first tests of the 2017 car focused on the engine and transmission. More recently we have been working on the suspension, differential and aero. There will be further small changes to the chassis and engine later in the year. We will reveal the final version of our 2017 car later in the season”, added Michel Nandan.
Hyundai Motorsport will also launch the R5 version of its i20 in competition this weekend at the Tour de Corse.
