The Hyundai i20 in the final stages of testing

Next Wednesday, Hyundai will lift the veil on its i20 WRC New generation, which will come into action from the first rally of the 2016 World Championship in Monte-Carlo (January 22-24). The latest addition to the Alzenau workshops, the Korean manufacturer's base in Germany, is continuing its testing program while waiting.

Since March 2015, the future mount Thierry Neuville, Dani Sordo and Hayden Paddon has accumulated nearly 8000 km in tests, both on dirt and on asphalt. “We are approaching the final phase of preparation,” indicates Team Principal Michel Nandan. We have carried out an average of one test per month with the new car, including a test this week in France, which ends tomorrow.

For a young team like ours, running an intensive testing program on top of the WRC program has been an achievement but we are now reaching several important milestones. We look forward to officially unveiling the new car before the conclusion of the homologation process with the FIA. »

Only real tests on snow must still be carried out by Hyundai, normally by the end of the month, in order to prepare in particular for the Rally Sweden, second round of the 2016 WRC.
