The new Hyundai will arrive in 2016

A few days ago, the French Team Principal of Hyundai Motorsport Michel Nandan had indicated that the training based in Alzenau would take its time to introduce the new version of its i20 WRC. The Koreans are now aiming debut scheduled for the start of the 2016 World Championship at Rally Monte Carlo.

“We had hoped to present the new car later this season, but unfortunately an issue with the homologation schedule, linked to the production of the three-door road version, will delay our programme, Nandan says. We have therefore chosen to continue focusing on the five-door version of the i20 WRC New Generation which will participate in the 2016 Monte-Carlo Rally. This revised schedule will give us additional time to ensure that the car will be where we want it to be in terms of performance. At the same time, the current car will receive a number of significant updates which we hope will keep us in the fight for the podium this season. »

The testing program for the future iteration of the i20 continues, with testing recently taking place in Spain, near Almeria with the Dutchman Kevin Abbring and the Belgian Thierry Neuville. Hyundai will return to competition from April 24 to 26 on the roads of the Argentina Rally.
