The three pass for Tänak in Germany?

Ott Tänak dug a hole in the championship by signing his 4th victory of the season at Rally of Finland contested at the beginning of August. The Estonian can now hope to improve his lead by aiming for a third success in a row next week at the German Rally where he has won the last two editions.

“Germany is a rally that I really like, confirms the Estonian. We clearly have the objective of achieving a 3rd consecutive victory here. It is certainly not an easy test. I think my victory last year was one of the hardest to come by in my career, the competition was fierce and my attack was constant from start to finish. It's a big challenge for drivers to face so many different types of roads in one event, being the fastest everywhere while making no mistakes. Weather can also play an important role and can be complicated to predict. »

His teammates will also be able to claim the forefront, starting with Jari-Matti Latvala who has never managed to get Germany on his record.

“It was a very good thing to get back on the podium in Finland because I will arrive more relaxed in Germany, admits the Finn. We were in 2nd place last year before dropping out in the last stage following a problem, so we know we can perform well here. I can't wait to see what happens and I hope we can fight for the podium again. The last asphalt rally in Corsica was tough for me, but we really worked on this surface with our tests in Germany which preceded Rally Finland. We worked on braking and steering and I had good feelings behind the wheel. »

Kris Meeke can also hope to achieve a first victory this season and his first success on the Rally Germany.

“I can't wait to get back on the asphalt after these last tests on gravel, comments the Northern Irishman. I have felt very good with the Yaris so far WRC on the asphalt and I hope to find these sensations in Germany. It's always a demanding event because there are three types of terrain and the weather can change from one stage to another. But it's a rally where we have been competitive in the past and I hope to get a good result there. »

La victoire d’Ott Tänak l’an dernier au Rallye d’Allemagne fut le premier succès sur asphalte de la Toyota Yaris WRC. L’Estonien avait remporté l’édition précédente sur une Ford Fiesta WRC.
