The Peugeot 208 T16 continues its development

Since December, no less than four test sessions on gravel, or 20 days, have been completed by the Peugeot 208 T16 on earth. Bryan Bouffier, Craig Breen and Kris Meeke were requisitioned for the occasion in Riboux, Mazamet or Auxerre, with the aim of seeking both performance and reliability, a primordial factor for a vehicle intended for customer competition.

The main technical options have thus been validated, both in terms of the chassis, the engine, the electronics and even the suspensions. “I have a very good feeling with the 208 T16, underlines the Irishman Kris Meeke. I don't yet know its maximum potential because we have only ridden on dirt to date. But one thing is certain, there are some! We still have avenues to explore. It?s very exciting to work on a new project, especially since it?s also a new regulation and we don?t have any benchmarks. I love this stage of the project. It?s really interesting to work on a beautiful car from the start to make it the best! »

The battery of tests on land not yet finished, the first tests on asphalt are looming, with the aim of reaching 10 kilometers before the delivery of the first cars at the end of the year. “Our objective is really to accumulate kilometers with the 208 T16 to make it the reference for the R5 regulations that we are discovering, continues Craig Breen. We are obviously all very motivated. It must be said that with this name, T16, we all remember something that marked the history of motorsport and we want to repeat history! The car clearly progresses with each session, with each run. I rediscover it and learn every time! I always have a huge smile when it comes to getting in it! »

We can already bet that it will be the same for interested customers.
