The Skoda Fabia R5 2019 version approved

Presented last December, the Skoda Fabia R5 “version 2019” can now race at the highest level in rally, national and worldwide, after having received its approval from the FIA.

The main differences of this development concern the 1,6 liter turbo engine block. Flexibility and available power appear to be the new features brought by the engineers from Mlada Boleslav.

New oil pump, with new hydraulic management, new water pump and new cooling system make up part of this reworked package.

The waste gate (or discharge valve) of the turbo is managed electrically while Skoda Motorsport has improved the link between crankshaft and alternator to “ensure better engine power during acceleration”.

The electronic engine management has been revised, the transmission offers a better lifespan than on the previous model. On the rollcage side, Skoda Motorsport has applied the FIA standards in force for this 2019 season.

289 Fabia R5s have already been sold in all versions since its launch in 2015, following the S2000.
