Sweden extends for three seasons

The traditional winter event of the World Rally Championship, organized in Sweden, will be well on the program for the 2020, 2021 and 2022 seasons.

The promoter of the event confirmed the contract extension this Friday. The Scandinavian round, which suffered from the mild weather this year, saw several competitors declare, notably Canada which is seeking to bring the WRC to its tracks, where snowy conditions seem easier to find.

But before a possible second round played in winter, Sweden will be there from next February. “Our ambition was to sign a new three-year agreement and we are finally there. » can breathe Glenn Olsson, general manager of rally.

Some ES should still take routes located in Norway, as suggested by Oliver Ciesla, in charge of promoting the WRC.

“I am very happy that we have finalized an agreement for the return of the WRC to Sweden and Norway, specifies the latter. Seeing WRCs in action in the snow and on ice at high speed always makes for spectacular images and offers a unique sporting challenge.

The Värmland region has been an excellent host for the event in the past and we greatly appreciate the overwhelming support from Swedish fans and media for the WRC. »
