The Volkswagen Polo GTI R5 will receive several updates in 2020

It remains today one of the last axes of the commitment of Volkswagen in thermal competition, and the German entity does not intend to abandon it.

La Polo GTI R5, notably engaged in the categories WRC 2 / WRC 3 in the World Cup and in the various national championships, will be provided with several improvements this year, based on feedback from customer teams, carefully observed by engineers from across the Rhine.

Modified suspension components will arrive first, before new components for other key areas of the car are developed.

“It is extremely important to constantly work on ideas and solutions to improve performance and reliability, explains François-Xavier Demaison, technical director of Volkswagen Motorsport.

Thanks to the feedback we receive from our customers, we have been working on updates for the Polo GTI R5 since last year and the first improvements are already delivered to customers. »

Volkswagen further indicates that demand for its R5 is increasing, and will increase production by 20%, production which will extend beyond 2020.

It remains to be seen what the current season will consist of for VW's Motorsport department, which has made its 100% electric ID.R shine in recent years, both at Pikes Peak and at the Nürburgring and even on Mount Tianmen in China.
