The Volkswagen Polo R WRC testing on asphalt

After carrying out its first tests on gravel last August on the Finnish courses, Volkswagen Motorsport is currently testing the future version of Polo R WRC planned for 2017 on asphalt in the Alpes-Maritimes on the specials of Rally Monte-Carlo in a session which started at the start of the week and which should end tomorrow evening, Friday October 23. The tests have been taking place for three days at Col-de-Bleine and Saint-Auban.

If this version can still evolve, it already benefits from a new dress including wider wings.

Marcus Gronholm was requisitioned for the tests along with his assigned co-driver Timo Rautiainen. François-Xavier Demaison, the technical director of Volkswagen Motorsport, is on site. He could make the trip to Spain this weekend to attend the Catalonia Rally which started this Thursday, October 22.
