Latvala ahead at shakedown in Poland

The shakedown of Rally of Poland, seventh round of the 2014 World Rally Championship, took place this morning and saw the Finn Jari-Matti Latvala and his Volkswagen Polo R WRC set the best time after four runs. In 1'59″3, Latvala is ahead of two other Scandinavians, the Norwegians Mads Ostberg (Citroën DS3), 0″5 behind, and his VW teammate Andreas Mikkelsen 3rd at 0″6. Sébastien Ogier, the reigning world champion, only completed the two regulation passages to place 4th in 2'00″1, 0″8 off the best time.

The first Ford is that of Robert Kubica, 6th at 2″2, just ahead of the first Hyundai i20 from Belgium Thierry Neuville. The rally itself will begin at 16:40 p.m. for three stages including a super-special around the nerve center of this Polish round in Mikolajki, from 20:05 p.m.
