Latvala in the lead with a slight lead in Portugal

Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) returns to mid-stage assistance at Rally of Portugal by occupying the leading position. The Finn took control of the event by signing the scratch in SS3 but only has half a second ahead of Kris Meeke (Citroën).

Citroën drivers were very satisfied with the behavior of the C3 WRC. Craig Breen is also evolving at the forefront, ranking 4th, two tenths behindOtt Tänak (Ford) and one second behind Jari-Matti Latvala. Stéphane Lefebvre, on the other hand, did not have an idyllic start to the event since the Frenchman rolled over in SS3 and lost several minutes getting back to the service park.

Sébastien Ogier (Ford) is in contact, occupying 5th place less than 5 seconds from the leader while he occupies the worst position on the road. The pilot M-Sport precedes Hayden Paddon (Hyundai) who took the lead at the end of SS2 before losing time following an engine cutout. The New Zealander's teammates, Thierry Neuville and Dani Sordo, follow him less than half a second away.

Mads Ostberg (Ford) and Elfyn Evans (Ford), both on Dmack tires, complete the top ten ahead of Esapekka Lappi (Toyota) who complained of having lost time in SS4 by following Stéphane Lefebvre in slow motion following his accident. The Finn is ahead of his teammate and compatriot Juho Hänninen.

Andreas Mikkelsen (Skoda) still dominates WRC 2, occupying 13th place in the general classification. Éric Camilli (Ford) is at the foot of the provisional podium in the category completed by Pontus Tidemand (Skoda) and Teemu Suninen (Ford). His compatriots Yohan Rossel and Yoann Bonato, both on DS 3 R5, had less success. The first retired in SS2 following a water leak while the second went off the road.

The first stage of the Rally Portugal will resume from 17:09 p.m. and can be followed live on AUTOhebdo.fr.
