Less than three seconds apart this morning at the start of the third day of Rally of Finland, separated the Volkswagen Polo R of Jari-Matti Latvala and Sébastien Ogier. After four stages this Saturday, the hierarchy has changed little, since the two men responded in turn to each breakaway attempt.
If Latvala had set the best time in the first sector of Mökkiperä, the Frenchman had come back to two seconds after two consecutive scratches. But the Finn recovered a full second in SS14 to have a three-second margin before the second loop of the afternoon.
Behind the leading duo, the DS3 WRC by Kris Meeke and Mads Ostberg perdent graduellement du temps, et observent à plus de 33 secondes la course pour la victoire. Une autre lutte anime l’épreuve pour la cinquième place entre les Hyundai i20 Thierry Neuville and Dani Sordo, less than six seconds separating the two residents of the Korean team.
The Ford clan is led by Juho Hänninen in front Ott Tänak and Martin Prokop, the top 10 being completed by Esapekka Lappi's Skoda Fabia R5, still dominating in WRC-2, with 1’11”9 over his teammate Pontus Tidemand. Despite an alert this morning with a puncture, Stéphane Lefebvre (DS3 RRC) remains third in the category.
The second loop will start at 13:37 p.m. You can consult photos et videos of the test on our website.
