Latvala takes advantage of his position in Mexico

Jari-Matti Latvala (Volkswagen) taking advantage of a good position on the road to Rally of Mexico due to his poor performances at the start of the season, the Finn was able to rise to the top of the event by notably ahead of his teammate Sébastien Ogier by 22 seconds in the El Chocolate special (SS4). The Nordic driver has a 19-second lead over the three-time world champion at midday.

Mads Ostberg (Ford) marks the break in the peloton by completing the top five, 45 seconds behind his compatriot. The Scandinavian is seven seconds ahead of Hayden Paddon (Hyundai). The New Zealander was at the front before losing time by damaging a wheel in contact with a low wall.

Ott Tänak (Ford) and Martin Prokop (Ford) complete the top eight ahead of Lorenzo Bertelli (Ford). Éric Camilli (Ford) is outside the top ten after losing five minutes following a puncture. Left at a strong pace, Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) dismounted after breaking his suspension in SS4.

The second pass of the second stage of the Rally Mexico will start from 21:27 p.m.
