Latvala turns to endurance

Jari-Matti Latvala seems to have enjoyed his VLN race this weekend on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The Finn, associated with Anja Wassertheuer and Daniela Schmid, finished 133rd in the race at the wheel of the Ford Focus RS of the FH Köln Motorsport team, a first experience before taking part in the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring next month (15 -May 16).

« My expectations were really high, confides Latvala. The Nordschleife has a terrible reputation and, having driven around these curves, I can understand the reasons for this reputation. He demands the greatest respect but I found the experience exciting. The race (24 Hours) will not be easy but they say that a change is as good as a nap. I can't wait to compete in this race. »

« I was impressed by the car, continues Latvala. I'm used to the four-wheel drive of my Ford Focus RS WRC but I was really surprised by the good traction offered by the front wheels of this touring car. »

The 24 Hours of the Nürburgring will represent a challenge for Latvala, who has never taken part in such a long race, who had never even driven a car in a circuit race before the VLN round on Saturday.
