The government of Paraguay supports an arrival in the World Cup

The South American continent could see the arrival of a new round of a major motorsport event. Having recently hosted the Dakar in 2017, it is the WRC which could happen in Paraguay.

The President of the Republic Mario Abdo Benítez indicated yesterday that he supported the Touring y Automóvil Club Paraguayo in its approach to bring the World Cup caravan.

“Getting the country to propose dates for the WRC has been a great dream of Paraguayan motorsport for many years,” said the presidency press release.

Paraguay's intention to obtain the WRC is reinforced by the organizing steering committee talks, and if achieved it will represent a significant leap for the country regionally.

Paraguay has a large automobile fleet to which is added great interest from all those who are part of the national championship of rally and the general public, so that the world championship comes to Guaraní land. »

In addition to Argentina, a pillar round of the WRC for a number of seasons, Chile arrived on the calendar this year. The event will however be canceled in 2020, and postponed to 2021.
