Le Rally of Catalonia 2022 (October 20-23) constitutes the penultimate meeting of the year in the World Rally Championship (WRC). A time contested on mixed terrain, the Spanish event has taken place only on asphalt since 2021.

The total mileage of the competition will just exceed the symbolic mark of 300 km, with 300,01 km of times compared to 280,37 the previous year.

From Thursday, the shakedown route will be unique with a passage in the Coll de La Teixeta. The main new features will take place on Friday: the first stage will be opened with two new special stages in Els Omells – Malda (10,66 km) and Serra de la Llena (11,93 km). They will be followed by Les Garrigues Altes (21,44 km) and La Pobla-Ribaroja (17,72 km) using routes taken in the opposite direction to those of 2021.

To meet the challenge, there will no longer be any assistance between the two loops, the only respite offered to competitors now being a tire change zone at Flix after the first four timed sectors. The eight tests total 123,50 km timed.

For the rest of the route, the drivers will return to familiar roads. Only the Pratdip stage will take 2 kilometers of new portion, during the last day of the Rally of Catalonia.
