After Portugal, we head to Italy and the island of Sardinia for the 6th round of the 2023 World Rally Championship. The 20th edition of the Rally of Sardinia will begin this Thursday, June 1st with a Shakedown from 9:00 a.m. The first special will start from Olbia at 18:05 p.m., for 3,20 kilometers.

Friday will offer an intimidating stage with three stages, all completed twice and interspersed with service. After Tantariles (10,71 km), the competitors will challenge Terranova (8,41 km) before the return of Monte Lerno – Sa Conchedda in a format of 49,90 km. This marathon special will complete the two loops and will include Micky's Jump and its spectacular jumps.

« I've wanted to do this for years, explained Tiziano Siviero, the man who designed this tricky course. Let's say that a long and formidable special stage is a bit my trademark. It was born from the desire to include all the most beautiful sections of Monte Lerno and Monti di Alà with an arrival in the Alà dei Sardi arena, where the last two kilometers are entirely visible to spectators. »

Saturday's stage will have a similar format with two passages in Coiluna – Loelle (16,28 km), Su Filigosu (19,57 km), Erula – Tula (21,92 km) and Tempio Pausania (9,04 km) for a total of 133,62 km.

Four stages will make up the final stage on Sunday. Arzachena – Braniatogghiu (15,22 km) and Sardegna (7,79 km) will be negotiated twice, with the second passage of the second city hosting the Wolf Power Stage putting bonus points at stake.

The nineteen stages will total 320,88 km timed over a total route of 1168,22 km.

Sébastien Ogier will be at the start of this round of the World Rally Championship. “A wish from the team” specifies the Frenchman. Last year, Toyota suffered a crushing defeat against Hyundai. To avoid such a failure, the Japanese team preferred to ask the eight-time world champion and four-time winner of the Italian event for a helping hand. Takamoto Katsuta will therefore have to give up his place to Sébastien Ogier to score points in the constructors' championship. The Japanese will still be present in the 4th Yaris Rally1.
