Second stage of this 2024 championship WRC : the famous Rally from Sweden, the only one to argue about the snow on the calendar! On the program: 301,76 kilometers of timed courses and the number of special stages is identical to 2023, namely 18 SS.

In 2024, the Swedish Rally has decided to honor the memory of the late Craig Breen. The Irish driver, who disappeared during a testing accident in Croatia on April 13, 2023, had scored his ninth and final podium in the World Rally Championship (WRC) during the 2023 Rally Sweden in February. So pilot for Hyundai Motorsport's Craig Breen won both runs of Brattby last year, 3,8 and 7,8 seconds ahead of his nearest rival. As of this 2024 edition of the Scandinavian event, the 10,76 km special has been renamed #42 Brattby.

In the entry list, the main attraction will be the return of the reigning double world champion: Kalle Rovanperä will contest the first rally of his half-season at the Rally Sweden. The Finn, who will only respect a partial WRC program, will make his debut in 2024 in Scandinavia. In total, 56 crews are included in the entry list revealed this Friday by the championship.

There will not be eight, but nine Rally1 cars at the start of the Swedish round since Lorenzo Bertelli will make his return to the category for a private entry, still with the Toyota Yaris. At Hyundai, the third car will be occupied, unsurprisingly, by Esapekka Lappi. The Finn will be involved in rallies with fast off-tarmac profiles, and Sweden matches his driving style.

WRC2 will also be a very interesting category to follow, with no fewer than seven Toyota GR Yaris Rally2s at the start of the Swedish Rally! The Japanese manufacturer is already the most represented in the field, ahead of Skoda. If a duel between the two Scandinavian drivers Oliver Solberg and Sami Pajari is expected, other drivers could create a surprise.

Nikolay Gryazin will take part in his first international rally with the Citroën C3 Rally2, and Emil Lindholm will launch his season aboard the Hyundai i20 N Rally2, as will William Creighton in the Ford Fiesta Rally2. Reigning WRC3 champion Roope Korhonen is also entered with the Toyota. Sweden is also hosting the first round of the 2024 Junior WRC championship, for which a record 19 crews have registered.
