The World Rally Championship heads to its most unusual event of the year, the Safari Rally. Back on the calendar since 2021, the Kenyan stage certainly no longer has the length or aura of yesteryear, but it remains a difficult race for the drivers and mechanics.
This year, the field is 5 stars for this prestigious rally : Sébastien Loeb (M-Sport) and Sébastien Ogier (Toyota) font leur retour parmi les participants, un mois après leur dernière apparition, au Portugal. Au total, 12 voitures Rally1 sont engagées et 34 crews will be at the start.
With a 363 kilometer route, the Safari Rally is renowned for being more of a test of endurance rather than pure speed. In terms of the program, the rally will begin on Wednesday with the Loldia shakedown. On Thursday, the first “Super Special” will see the drivers cover the 4,84 kilometer course around Kasarani, in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.
From Friday, the drivers will get tough, with marathon specials of more than 30 kilometers. The last day will also be very selective, more than 100 kilometers of special only on Sunday.
