Rally Sweden is full of entrants

Le Rally of Sweden will be contested from February 15 to 18 and will feature 67 crews. A number up significantly by almost 50% compared to 2017 and the largest in ten years.

In the queen category of WRC, M-Sport Ford will field its two starters for the year Sébastien Ogier and Elfyn Evans, while Teemu Suninen will begin his eight-round program in the third Fiesta WRC. The Finn will have previously started the season in a Ford Fiesta R5 at the Monte-Carlo Rally (January 25-28).

Winner in 2017, the first success after the return of the Japanese brand, absent since 1999, Toyota Gazoo Racing will try to repeat its performance with its three Yaris WRCs entrusted to Jari-Matti Latvala, Ott Tänak and Esapekka Lappi. A trio which will undoubtedly play the leading roles.

Hyundai Motorsport will field its i20 Coupe WRC for Thierry Neuville, Andreas Mikkelsen, while Hayden Paddon will start his season at the Scandinavian event.

If two Citroën C3s will be in action at the Monte-Carlo Rally for Kris Meeke and Craig Breen, a third car will be entered for the returning Mads Østberg. The WRC peloton will be completed by the presence of the Ford Fiestas of Lorenzo Bertelli, Henning Solberg and Yazeed Al-Rajhi.

In WRC-2, fifteen competitors will compete for victory. Pontus Tidemand and Ole Christian Veiby (Skoda Fabia R5) will spearhead the Czech brand, also represented by Fredrik Ahlin, while Jari Huttunen will drive the Hyundai i20 R5.

Toyota development program residents Takamoto Katsuta and Hiroki Arai will drive the Tommi Mäkinen Racing Ford Fiesta R5s. Note also the presence of Kevin Abbring in a Ford Fiesta R5.

Terry Folb, Theo Chalal and Jean-Baptiste Franceschi will be entered in WRC-3.
