Rally Turkey returning to WRC?

2017 Calendar

The FIA has revealed the 2017 calendar for WRC with 12 events registered. However, two rounds still need to be confirmed to reach a 14-rally program. The candidates are Poland, China and Turkey.

Le Rally of Poland has been on the WRC calendar for the past two years and is therefore not certain to host the World Rally Championship next year. The same goes for the Rally of China which was canceled this season following bad weather which damaged the roads. On the other hand, the Rally of Turkey has not been included on the WRC calendar since 2010 when Sébastien Loeb won with his Citroën C4 WRC.

The Rallye de France is confirmed with a date brought forward to the weekend of April 9.

The final version of the 2017 calendar will be confirmed at the next World Council to be held on Wednesday, November 30.

The FIA has confirmed that each manufacturer will have to field two or three cars to score points in the Manufacturers' Championship. Only the two highest ranked cars will score points for this ranking. Manufacturers will be able to enter more cars but they will not be eligible for the Manufacturers' Championship.

The new classification will separate crews into three categories:
P1: for crews entered in WRCs by a manufacturer
P2: for crews entered with former WRCs
P3: for crews eligible for WRC 2

The FIA also launched a call for tenders to organize the JWRC in 2017. Citroën is currently in charge of this Championship.
