The Rally of Spain innovates for its next edition

Le Rally of Spain which will be contested from October 24 to 27, reserves several surprises for the crews of the WRC who will have to face mixed conditions. The first stage will reserve three special stages on asphalt contested at night with the courses of Querol (21,26km), Montmell (24,14km) and Riudecanyes (16,35km) used for the last time in 2009. The second day will also be contested on asphalt. The drivers will resume the last course contested the day before before facing the two passages of El Priorat (42,04km) which will be shortened by 4km towards the finish compared to the version of the previous season. The stage will be completed by two passages of Colldejou (26,48km), a special which was already contested last year but which will this time be covered in the opposite direction. The Salou super special (2km) mixing dirt and asphalt will conclude the second day.

The organizers have chosen to offer the opportunity to the best crews to choose their position for the final stage. Thus, the order of choices will be made according to the provisional classification of the event in the same way as the qualifying special stages. The third day will in fact be made up of four special stages on gravel, with two passages of Gandesa (7km) and Pesells (26,59km) and two others contested on mixed courses with the Terra Alta course (35,73km) which will be crossed in its configuration for the 2011 season. The podium will be celebrated in Salou at the end of the 355,78km timed course.
