The schedule for next season continues to reveal itself a little more. THE Rally of Mexico is expected to return in 2023, local authorities announced. The Guanajuato state government and organizers RallyMex made the return of the Mexican event official during a press conference on Monday. The definitive formalization on the part of the WRC is expected soon. Neither the date nor the duration of the contract have yet been given.

The Rally of Mexico would therefore make its return after two years of absence. It has not appeared on the WRC calendar since 2020, during an event which caused controversy at the time. In the midst of the spread of Covid-19 and as lockdowns began to be put in place around the world, the rally was initially maintained before being stopped on the last day. Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia won this event before a long break of several months.
The WRC would also make its first return to Latin America since 2020. Neither Mexico nor Argentina had been able to organize a rally since the start of the pandemic. This announcement makes sense in relation to the WRC's desire to extend its calendar to 14 events from 2023. The Rally of Mexico would then be one of the 6 rounds outside Europe desired by the FIA and the WRC.
