The record for Volkswagen

After tying Citroën in the last Rally of Spain, Volkswagen had the opportunity to break the record for the number of victories in a season. Feat accomplished thanks to the eighth success of the year for the double world champion Sébastien Ogier, accompanied by his co-pilot Julien Ingrassia.

“It’s obviously a great way to end the season, admits the Frenchman. There was no pressure. We attacked very hard from Friday to build up a nice margin. » The Polo R driver WRC n°1 will take advantage of the exit of Jari-Matti Latvala to control the end of the race and be congratulated by their boss Jost Capito.

“They did everything necessary for this eighth victory. Respect to them. Conversely, Jari-Matti and Andreas
Mikkelsen did not finish the season as they hoped. But they can be proud of what they have accomplished. (Volkswagen becomes the first brand since Lancia in 1987 and 1988, to place its three drivers in the first three places in the championship, Editor's note) We are not going to rest on our laurels, because Monte-Carlo starts in just 65 days, and preparations have already started. »
