Wales Rally GB unveils largely renewed route for 2018

The Welsh round of the 2018 World Rally Championship will offer crews from WRC a profoundly revised version of his journey compared to previous years. This largely resulted in legislation being changed to allow public roads to be closed for motorsport events.

A boon for the organizers who were able to extend certain known portions of the old RAC, or offer new routes. The first special of the event will take place on Thursday evening on the Tir Prince Raceway section before the real start of hostilities on Friday.

The ES of Clocaenog, Brenig (combination made with the Alwen sector and contested on Sunday in 2017) and Penmachno will be covered twice, interspersed with a double passage in Slate Mountain, a new special on the menu.

A “Super Saturday” will be on the program the next day with nine of the twenty-three SS on the program. The legendary sectors of Myherin or Sweet Lamb Hafren, which opened the rally in 2017, will be there before a final Sunday stage presenting several new features.

The first special will be contested on the new Elsi course, before the Gwydir Power Stage, which will not serve as the conclusion of the event, as in France in 2012 or 2013 (where the Power Stage even opened the rally). A first lap in Great Orme Llandudno then a repeat of these two special stages will be carried out to finally see the finish line.
