Lefebvre: “It will take a little time”

Stéphane Lefebvre and his co-driver Gabin Moreau are still hospitalized following their violent exit from the road in Panzerplatte, tenth special of the Rally from Germany. The Citroën crew suffers from several serious injuries, but he is recovering, hoping to quickly return to competition.

“We were well protected by the car, confirmed Stéphane Lefebvre. In rallying, you never control the external environment and this time the penalty was quite heavy. Now it's going to take some time for us to get back on our feet. The only thing that really annoys me is to tell myself that I might not be at the start of the Tour de Corse (from September 30 to October 2). »

Citroën driver remembers the moment he lost control of his DS 3 WRC. “I remember every moment perfectly, confirmed the Frenchman. I had noticed a right turn with a “shaving” rope. Given the traces left by the other competitors, I cut a little more but the car moved to the outside and we hit a row of hilkensteins. The last rock spun the car and sent it into the trees. This is what did the most damage. »

“Leaving just after us, Éric Camilli and Benjamin Veillas were the first to arrive, added Gabin Moreau. “They are our friends and they rushed to help us. Then the rescuers arrived and did what was necessary to extract me from the car. We were then transported to hospital by helicopter. »
