Loeb: “I was going too fast”

Sébastien Loeb returned to his accident which occurred in SS2 of the Tour de Corse from Piedigriggio – Pont de Castirla. The Citroën driver was battling with Sébastien Ogier (M-Sport), author of the scratch on the first course, when the nine-time champion of the WRC went off the road a few hundred meters after the start of the second special.

If the director of Citroën Racing Pierre Budar spoke of “cold tires” to explain the Frenchman's error, spectator images could suggest that the former world champion had gone crazy before his accident. But the French pilot took responsibility for his accident.

“I had to brake to take a fairly sharp left turn, explained Sébastien Loeb on WRC Live. I was going too fast given the conditions. I went wide but there was a ditch there. I have to admit that it is very frustrating, especially to make a mistake like this so early in the rally. The car was good and I had no problems, I had also set a good time in the first special. The turn was dirty and that surprised me. I was going too fast, it was a mistake on my part. »

The Citroën C3 WRC should be able to restart in Rally 2 tomorrow, as the car did not suffer any major damage.
