Loeb: “I wasn’t thinking of leaving PSA”

Sébastien Loeb will make a turning point in his career by joining at the age of 44 Hyundai workforce. The Alsatian, however, made his career defending the colors of Citroën and Peugeot , the two brands of the PSA Group, until it found itself at a crossroads following the termination of the program Rallycross of Leo.

“Since the time I have been at PSA, I have not had the idea of leaving, explained Sébastien Loeb in issue 2196 of AUTOweekly. I wouldn't necessarily have done it because everything has always gone well with PSA and I have always been loyal. However, while I still want to run, there is no longer an opportunity to do so. By force of circumstances, I looked elsewhere and the challenge to take on is still very interesting…”

With a program organized over 6 rounds of WRC, Sébastien Loeb a trouvé chez Hyundai le contrat idéal pour continuer à courir sans être entièrement happé par la compétition.

“I wasn't looking to play a full season, so this proposition suited me very well. With 14 rounds, reconnaissance and trials, that's almost half the year on the road. I didn't want to dive into that again. I also liked their motivation. They were the first to approach me in the WRC…”, added the nine-time WRC champion.
