Loeb: “I’m here to win”

Sébastien Loeb and Citroën arrived as favorites in Spain, the Frenchman confirming his good disposition on the asphalt by setting the best time in the shakedown. The five-time world champion beat the Citroën Junior Team driver, Sébastien Ogier, his teammate Dani Sordo, and the newcomer behind the wheel of a C4, Petter Solberg. “ I am very happy to find the asphalt again and Rally of Spain which is one of my favorite events, confided Sébastien Loeb after the shakedown. Tests on this surface went well. I quickly regained very good sensations. I particularly like driving on asphalt. You have to get closer to the limit to go fast. I'm here to win. We must not think about the championship and stay focused on what is our rally objective: to win! »

The Spanish Rally is off to a great start for Citroën and its world champion. However, the three days of competition that await the drivers may hold some surprises, Mikko Hirvonen having trained specifically so as not to lose (too many) points during this event.

If Dani Sordo can help Sébastien Loeb win the world title by taking second place in Spain, Sébastien Ogier can also be an asset in Citroën's game. Before the start of the event, the Frenchman is ready to fight. “ I have good feelings with the car. I can't wait to start the rally. We did a lot of testing, I had never done so much before a race. Even though we lack experience on asphalt, I feel confident. On the other hand, we do not have any benchmarks to position ourselves in relation to our competitors. We may not be able to join the fight for victory but the objective is to be in the leading group. »
