Sébastien Loeb will try to win his 9th Rally Germany this week. The world champion will drive the DS3 WRC on an asphalt event for the first time but remains confident after testing.

Loeb: The DS3 is livelier on asphalt

After his new victory at Rally from Finland, Sébastien Loeb is 27 points ahead of his closest rival Mikko Hirvonen (Ford). The seven-time world champion is in an ideal position before tackling the asphalt events which begin with the German Rally where he remains undefeated since its creation in 2002.

However, Sébastien Loeb will compete in this event for the first time with the DS3. WRC. The Citroën driver noted differences compared to the C4 WRC. “Compared to what we knew before, the Citroën DS3 WRC is a little livelier”, remarks the Alsatian. “But his behavior is very healthy with very good balance. The new regulations have eliminated the controlled central differential but the car runs very well without the help of electronics. The Michelin tires are also different from those we had in years past. »

If the DS3 WRC will require a little more attention, Sébastien Loeb remains optimistic about its chances of success. “During testing, we drove on roads similar to those we will encounter during the rally”, specifies the world champion. “A wide range of settings have been reviewed to achieve good results. We know that our rivals have also worked a lot but we are ready! »
